Detail: Labeled "A Perfect Fit", Louisville's status as the Reds' top farm team is a move that has been popular with baseball fans in this city. Fans can watch the future stars of Cincinnati and travel an hour to watch them play. Louisville Slugger Field, located right on the downtown waterfront, opened in April of 2000 and lived up to all expectations. The stadium blended a mix of old and new, with the 120-year-old Brinly-Hardy warehouse serving as the grand entrance, while including all the amenities of a modern day ballpark. The 2000 season proved to be a monumental year in Louisville Baseball as the Bats led the league in attendance with a total of 685,561, an average of 9,522 fans per game coming through the gates. The total was the 18th highest in the history of minor league baseball. With construction of a new videoboard complete at Louisville Slugger Field and the Reds receiving several young, talented players for their farm system in the offseason, 2007 promises to be even better on and off the field. Look for the upcoming season to be the greatest in Louisville baseball's history.
