The second Monday of every month!
The next show is 8/11 with Herb Bruce
Show starts at 7:30 pm
The Don Krekel Orchestra rides back
into the Comedy Caravan Monday, August 11th. It’ll
be almost a double concert with half the program
devoted to the swinging music of Count Basie. You
can’t hardly pat your foot “wrong” to Basie…. His
stuff was always “in the pocket” as the musicians
would say.
The other half of the program will feature the
powerhouse sounds of the Stan Kenton Orchestra.
Krekel promises he’s not gonna just tippy-toe
around the swinging Kenton things, but will also
air out some of the more ambitious numbers like
“Malaguena” from Kenton’s “Adventures in Jazz”
album, probably “Artemis and Apollo” from the
“Adventures in Time” album, most likely “Somewhere”
from Leonard Bernstein’s “West Side Story”. (With
the likes of those demanding charts, we may just
err on the safe side by having EMS stand by just in
case the trumpet section needs a little extra
oxygen!)
Special guest, Master trombonist Herb Bruce,
(herbbruce.com) from Sarasota Fl will be back
augmenting the trombone section.
